This is part of a series of blogposts about the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum in Paderborn Germany. Read part 1 here and part 2 here.

I promised in part 2 that I would do the portable typewriters, but I just found more pictures of the standards, so here they are!

And now finally, some early portables! My favorite. But due to the lighting conditions I couldn’t make nice pictures of all of them. And of course, there were less portables than standards in the collection.

If you seriously thought these were all the typewriters in the Heinz Nixdorf collection you are wrong! There also was a display with early electric typewriters. And the next part about their exhibition are bureau desks, which sometimes also contained typewriters in a very beautiful display! Besides that, there were also various desk accessories. It was really nice for me to see all that, since it is so close to my own profession.

Before I spend another two hours sorting through pictures and resizing and uploading them, I’m going to take another break. More coming up later!

Wow…. and… WOW! So many beautiful typewriters. And two Sholes and Glidden! Sweet. A collection to be proud of.
